IN DETAIL
Laser Cutting
& Engraving
explained.
Cut and Engraved in the Shop, Not Ordered In
Laser work is where a lot of our other jobs start. Acrylic letters for an interior sign, a routed backer for a lobby logo, an engraved plaque, a set of numbered tags for a wayfinding system — all of it comes off the same bench, which means we control the tolerances and we are not waiting on a supplier to ship us parts.
Because the laser lives in the same building as the printers and the install crew, a cut part can go from artwork to finished, mounted piece without leaving Chicago Ridge.
What We Cut and Engrave
Acrylic
Clear, frosted, colored and mirrored. Cast acrylic cuts with a clean polished edge, which is why it is the default for dimensional lettering, logo panels and edge-lit work. We cut the faces, the backers and the spacers as one job so everything lines up on the wall.
Wood and Composite
Ply, MDF, hardwood and composite board for rustic and interior signage, menu boards, directory panels and event pieces. Engraving depth is set by material, so we cut a sample before committing a full sheet on anything unfamiliar.
Metal
Anodised aluminum and coated metals take a crisp engraved mark, which suits plaques, equipment tags, donor walls and awards.
Leather, Paper and Fabric
Smaller detail work — branded leather patches for workwear, cut paper and card for events, fabric appliqué. Useful alongside our apparel and event printing when a job needs a physical texture rather than a print.

Sizes, Materials and Limits
Sheet size, material thickness and whether a material can be cut or only surface-engraved all change what is possible, and they change by material. Send us the part and the material you have in mind and we will tell you plainly whether it works, whether it needs to be cut in sections, or whether a different material gets you a better result for less money.
What to Send Us
Vector artwork is ideal — AI, EPS, PDF or SVG — with cut lines and engrave areas on separate layers if you have them. If all you have is a photo or a raster logo, we redraw it; that is normal and it is part of the job. Tell us the finished size, the material and where the piece is going, and we will come back with a quote and a proof.
