The Right Board for the Job
Most flat printed signs are a question of material, and most bad ones are the wrong material for where they ended up. Coroplast on a storefront for three years looks terrible; aluminum composite for a two-week sale is money wasted. Here is what each one is for.
Outdoor Materials
Coroplast
Corrugated plastic, 4 mm. Light, waterproof and cheap. Yard signs, election signs, event directionals, anything meant for months rather than years. Flutes run vertical so H-stakes slide in.
Aluminum Composite
Two aluminum skins on a solid core, 1/8 inch. Flat, rigid, rust-proof, and the material we use for storefront panels, building signs, menu boards under a canopy and anything that has to look good for years. Also called ACM, Dibond or sandwich board.
PVC Board
Expanded PVC, 1/8 inch and up. Smooth, waterproof, holds a clean edge. Wall-mounted signs, lobby directories, protected outdoor signs. Softer than aluminum, so not for anything that gets handled.
Aluminum Sheet
Solid .040 aluminum for parking and property signs, and for anything on a post.

Indoor Materials
Foam Board
Paper-faced foam, 3/16 inch. The lightest and cheapest rigid print. Presentations, easel signs, event boards, photo prints for a day or a season. Indoors only; it dents and it warps in humidity.
Gatorfoam
Foam core with hard resin faces, 3/16 or 1/2 inch, in white or black. Stiff enough to stand on its own and hard enough to survive being moved from show to show. Trade-show panels, retail displays, mounted photography.
Styrene
Thin .020 plastic sheet. Flexible, tear-proof, cheap in quantity. Shelf signs, point-of-sale, inserts for frames and sign holders.
Sizes and Finishing
Everything is printed full color and cut to size, up to 4 by 8 feet in one piece. Rounded corners, drilled holes, grommets, double-sided printing and lamination are all options. Tell us where the sign is going and for how long, and we will pick the board.
