Flags Built for Chicago Wind

A feather flag on Ridgeland Avenue in February takes more abuse than most permanent signs ever will. We print flags on knitted polyester that holds color through UV and freeze-thaw, and we pair them with hardware rated for the gusts that come off the prairie rather than the cheapest pole in the catalog.

Flags are the fastest way to be visible from a moving car without a permit process attached to a permanent structure — which is exactly why they are worth doing properly rather than replacing every season.

What We Print

Feather and Teardrop Flags

The roadside standard. Single or double-sided, with ground stakes for grass, cross bases for pavement and water bags for windy lots. Double-sided flags are printed as two panels with a blockout liner between them, so the reverse reads correctly rather than mirrored — worth paying for on any flag that will be seen from both directions.

Pole and Boulevard Flags

Grommeted or pole-hemmed flags for building-mounted brackets and light standards. We size to the bracket you already have, or supply the bracket with the flag.

Custom Shape and Event Flags

Rectangle, swooper, blade or a shape of your own, for dealerships, seasonal promotions, open houses and anything that needs to register at speed.

Designing for Movement

A flag is read while it is moving, usually by someone driving. Short words, high contrast and a large mark work; a paragraph and a small logo do not. Keep the critical content in the upper two-thirds — the lower part of a feather flag spends much of its life curled around the pole or hidden behind a parked car.

Hardware and Replacement

The flag and the hardware wear at different rates. The pole set, base and stake usually outlast several prints, so we sell replacement flags on their own once you have the hardware — there is no reason to rebuy a base every time a design changes or a flag fades.

Check the Ordinance First

Some villages treat feather flags as temporary signage with a permit and a display-days limit, and a few restrict them entirely. Tell us where the flag is going and we will check the ordinance before you buy, the same way we do for permanent signs. See how permitting works.

Flag Types and Sizes

Feather flags come in small 9-foot, medium 10.5-foot, large 14-foot and extra-large 18-foot sizes. Teardrop flags run 7 to 13.5 feet, rectangle flags 8.5 to 15 feet, and the economy feather flag is a single 16-foot size. All are dye-sublimated polyester on fiberglass poles, single or double sided.

Bases

Ground stakes for grass, cross bases with a water bag for pavement, and square bases for indoor floors and windy corners. Custom flags for a real flagpole are printed the same way at any size.
